Freqently Asked Questions

These are a few questions that seem to pop up in our email box as well as while we're DJing. Hope these help.

Q: You guys DJ with vinyl records? I didn't think they even still made those things.

A: Well, yes and no.  Though SteadyLove, being a music lover, has quite a huge vinyl collection, he and the other DJs at BoomBoxes Etc. use an interface that uses both turntables (record players) and digital Media (laptop).  This hardware/software is top of the line and is used by top DJs all over the world.  It can seem a little complicated, we know.  If you want more info on this hardware/software google "Serato by Rane".  And yes, thank God, they still do make vinyl.   In fact, as of last year, vinyl sales are actually growing while CD sales have declined.

Q: BoomBoxes etc. What does that mean?

A: Well, a boombox is an old portable music player.  During the eighties whole neighborhoods would rock out at community centers, parks or any place with high people traffic, and get down and mingle with friends.  So it's only fitting that our mobile DJ services pay homage to the mobile DJ's and MC's that brought the party wherever they went.

Q: "You guys seem different from the other DJ services out there.  Why is that?"

A: Well, we aren't just another mobile DJ service.   In fact, all the DJ's here at BoomBoxes Etc. have more club experience than your average disc jockey.  With an ever-growing portfolio of successful weddings, parties, and other special occasions, Boomboxes Etc. is raising the bar of quality entertainment.    And don't let us forget to mention again that BoomBoxes Etc. sets itself apart in being  home to one of the only female DJ's in WNC.
